Why is my Dell 2330 printer leaking toner? - Most Common Cause

Today, we’re looking at the most common cause for leaking in a Dell 2330 / 2350 printer: the imaging unit.

In laser printers, there are two pieces that make up the printer cartridge: the toner cartridge and the imaging unit. The imaging unit is what actually transfers toner onto the page that's being printed. So why is the imaging unit the most common cause for leaking? The answer to that, my friends, lies within the toner waste bin.

The toner waste bin is part of the imaging unit and its job is to collect all the excess toner that doesn't make it to the page. You see, when a toner cartridge prints, it transfers slightly more toner than it needs to create the text or image and sweeps the leftover toner into the waste bin. If the waste bin gets too full, it can overflow and leak, peppering your documents with lovely little toner specks as seen in the image below (not good!).

NOT GOOD!

So what does that mean? If the waste bin is too full, it means that the imaging unit has reached the end of its life and you need to replace it. You can order a new Dell 2330 / 2350 imaging unit (part number PK496) from Print.Save.Repeat. for only $39.95 at our online store.

DON'T FORGET: When replacing the imaging unit in your Dell 2330 / 2350, remember to reset your printer's PC counter. That's what tracks how many pages have been printed on the unit.
